The DO NOTs and Whys

This is my "I've learned the hard way and you don't have to" page.

1.  DO NOT eyeball your property! Survey your desired location! If you don't, you may have more work and costs in your future.

2.  Do not just picture what you want to do, in your head. Draw out many forms of what you want. That way if something isn't available or you find one way difficult, you have back-up options.

3.  DO not make "spur-of-the-moment" decisions when it comes to your system(s). Seeing something you like is great! Put it on your "Wish List" and hold off until you are sure you need it and when. I've had my solar panel in storage so long now, that if there is anything wrong with it, I'll just be out my approx $350. My fish (which had to be re-sent by the sender due to dying in transport the first time) are tempurature sensitive. They do not like cold and winter is coming. I have tanks inside, but Tilapia grow fast.

4.  Do not assume everything from online or stores is going to work right or at all. It may not even be something you did. It may be rough handling by the postal workers, it may have been dropped in the store. If something is time sensitive on your system, have a back-up plan if things go awry.

5.  Do not guess on what you need when you go to the stores. Make sure you grab enough of what you need! I had to leave an open PVC pipe return and not connect my second hydrosystem tub, due to being one short on a PVC elbow. (Will eventually go get it, just not going all the way across town for a part that costs less than a buck.)

6.  Do not mix crayfish breeds.

If you want a docile breed, use the Electric Blue or their close relative; the pure white. Those two can mix.

If you do not care about the temperament and they have plenty of hiding spaces, you can use the standard southern native types.
