My Project: Join Me on my journey

I have decided that I'm sick and tired of prices of healthy food going up and when you give in and buy some, the people at the grocery stores decide to "man-handle" your food.... which we all know produce doesn't last as long when it's bashed against the counters. I have also even seen [in my local grocery] thumb-nail cresents from someone jaming their nails in all the potatoes (who knows what was on their fingers).

My project started in May 2014. That is when I decided to "go for it" and purchased my pond kit.

You'll notice a gap between June 2014 and September 2014. That is due to not deciding to record my project until September 2014.  The first pictures weren't really for documenting the project, but instead used as reference to what it looked like when I was done for the day(s). I was having trouble with my neighbors at the time and overheard their kids talking about ruining it.

As of Jan. 26, 2015, I have decided to expand my project to my whole yard. Why plant lawns (grass that all we do is walk on it), when we can plant food we need?

There are also other factors that may get a person started in hydroponics and aquaponics. Healthier foods. You know where they were grown and with what, where the seeds/starters came from, any fertilizers used... etc.

Feel free to browse around and follow my progress and/or failures.

Any suggestions for the site or for the project? Feel free to use the comment page. Keep in mind that this site is continually being updated and is no where finished.

Wonder the conditions I'm working with?

Below is my local weather and a planting zone map. Depending on what map you look at, I am either 7 or 7b (reality, I'm right on the border of 7 and 8). I choose plants that are able to handle the climate of zone 7.
