Buckwheat
Although it has "wheat" in its name, buckwheat is not related to wheat, nor is it a grain. Its seeds can be used in place of grains, but it is closer related to sorrel and rhubarb.
It is a common grain substitute and cover-crop (crops that shade bare ground and help replenish some nutrients into the soil). I mainly grow it for the bees. Buckwheat has the potential to make nice, molasses-dark honey.
